Barney at 6 months

Actually he is nearly 7 months old as I write this, but these pictures were taken when he was 6 months old.

Barney loves ‘helping’ with the gardening.  Here we are trying to rearrange the ‘rockery’ ready for planting.  It looks like we’ve pinned Barney down with the fork, but I promise, no tails were hurt during this shoot!  Barney is quite good at the ‘stay’ command now, as evidenced here.  He loves digging holes, as evidenced all over my garden and lawn, and if I am not careful he empties my pots all over the patio, trashing the plants in them.

Barney loves to play with his toys, and sometimes things he thinks are his toys!  Here he has his chicken which has sadly lost it’s squeak now it has a hole in it!  Anything squeaky is a great favourite, but so are shoes, slippers and socks –he loves to pinch a sock (clean or dirty) from the washing basket and run round the garden with it!

He is not so keen on having his paws wiped after a walk.  I had forgotten how muddy your house gets with a puppy/dog!  Barney has particularly furry paws that mud sticks to, only to let go all over my kitchen floor!  Walking on the lead is getting easier, although he is still not brilliant.  He loves to go to the local park and play with the other dogs – his favourite is a lurcher cross called Hairy McClary (Hairy for short!)  We are coming to the end of our second session of puppy training classes.  Barney is learning to walk to heel, stay, leave, to name but a few commands.

He is a very cuddly dog and loves to be stroked!  He is great fun, but hard work.  I keep saying I’m never having another puppy!  But he is so cute, I’ll forgive him almost anything!

Barney is a cutie for sure. The photos of him with his chicken are quite cute. When we got our two fur girls last October (cats) Mr Man had insisted on kittens so they would bond better he said - he forgot how much work kittens are. I love cats at any age. For him there were many days of "what was I thinking" and not a single I told you so from me (lol). Thankfully they are maturing and proving to be the joys of our days. I hope Barney is a star in his next set of puppy classes. My fur girls know the command of "down" and "get off there"

Awwww - he's beautiful! But then, I'm a dog person so a little biased!!! Loved having you visit my blog -- I see you're doing the 300 in 30 - best of luck with it!!!!

I am not a 'doogy' person, but he is very charming! Though I was a little alarmed at that chicken until I realised it was a toy ...

Hello Linda, thank you for visiting my blog as it gave me the opportunity to repay the visit.
Barney is a real cutie and I love the photos you took. We are resisting getting another dog, though our home and 'we' miss one being around. It's good you are training Barney as a well behaved dog is so much more pleasure to be around. We were in Scotland recently and surprised at how many dogs were in public places (even busy ones) off the lead. And they were so well behaved! None ran across if they saw another dog - it was good to see. Unless we are in open space we don't see many dogs off leads in the south and even then many are on leads the length of a washing line! Off to visit more of your posts. Good luck with your 300 in 30 days!

HE is so cute! Don't you just love puppies?! Thank you for visiting my blog! I trained our golden to sit as soon as we walked in the door after a walk. I get a towel and he lets me clean each paw. He knows better than to try and move until I have done this. Good luck with Barney!

Oh, he's adorable! I'd love to have a dog, but it's not the right time for us. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier as part of your 300 in 30 days challenge!

Ahh the fun of having a pup! What kind of spaniel is he? Our dog was spaniel, beagle mix of about the same colouring as Barney. I'm enjoying going back over your recent posts now that I've found your blog.

Hi Linda . Thank you for popping into my blog. It's nice to meet some different peopl e and the 300 in 30 seems to be creating that. Interesting you came via Rinda as hers was one of the first I started following and through hers I have met lots of blog friends. I love Barney. He looks a real sweetie. I love the phot that makes him look pinned down by the garden fork!

Oh my word, Barney's face in the photo where his head is on the door mat ... how could anybody resist that? What a gorgeous fellow he is.

Great photos of Barney and what he is up to at 6 (7!) months. He is so cute. I know you will look back on the challenging times of puppyhood and laugh about them in years to come. I laughed at your comment on the photo with the fork! He has obviously had fun with that chicken toy.
